How did you manage to get 20,000 subscribers on Youtube? What’s my secret? I get ask this question from time to time at conferences and meetup groups.
And my answer is simply…
You got to put in the work.
You got to put in the time.
You got to help people.
You got to out work the WORK!
You have to actually care about the people who are willing to spend their precious time watching you. I know it sounds simple, however it’s not as complicated as people make it.
Do you have to show your face on camera? Probably yes…
Do you have to match your message to your market? Yes…
Do you have to create gooood content? Yes…
Do you have to market and promote yourself? Yes…
Do you have to consistently upload videos? Yes…
Whatever questions you can think of the answer is probably…
Most of what I’ve learned and accomplished within 18 months can be uncomfortable for most people especially in the beginning. You have to get use to being uncomfortable. Almost everything you want to accomplish is outside of your comfort zone.
Keys to my success
Consistently giving some of my best ideas away for free has made a huge impact on the growth of my channel. Plus, my followers share lots of my videos to their friends and family. In the bible it says, “You reap what you sow” and this applies to being on Youtube as well.
By no means am I’m saying my channel is huge…not at all. I just started posting a videos of my travels, dating and relationships on Youtube (Guy on Girl TV) and one video went viral in less than 8 hours with over 500,000 views. As a result, I started a blog and published two paperback books on dating and relationships.
There’s no magic pill or formula. Just work! I’ve met people with 100’s and MILLIONS of subscribers on Youtube. I’m just a bigfish in a small pond. Nothing more, nothing less.
Out work the WORK!
