Invisible influence: the hidden forces that shape behavior
Do you have a desire to make more money? Or maybe you want to learn how to use influencer marketing to boost your sales or revenue? Social influencers are well-known within their niche, and very strategic about who they talk to and why. And they are the sought after experts in all things relevant to their expertise.
Becoming a social influencer is much easier than you think. It only requires some strategizing and deciding what goals are most important to you.
Let me ask you a question…
What do you want to be known for?
If you have several ideas on your list, try narrowing it down to one common denominator. What’s your super power? Once you’ve identified you’ll just start sharing it everywhere with lots of people. Eventually, others will begin introducing you as such.
We’re in a digital world, and it’s very important to create consistency on all your social media platforms. If you tell people in person you’re an expert connector, but your LinkedIn profile says you’re a graphic designer and doesn’t mention connecting at all, people will lose trust in you.
It may sound repetitive at first, but introducing yourself by your expertise will help you become the top of mind resource in your category. People will remember what you do, because they’ve heard it consistently from you and saw it reinforced in all of your online branding.
Perception is reality
How many times have you referred someone for their expertise when you haven’t actually seen them in action? I’d say you have a short list. Finding ways to demonstrate to people what you can do, you’ll be more likely to be impactful in your area of expertise.
Find ways to demonstrate your abilities to the public. Here’s some ways this can work for you:
Get speaking gigs to show off your knowledge to an audience. Don’t worry about the pay, you’re here to build credibility, not income.
Give away free samples of your product or service. This may include free consultation sessions where you show how you can help the person if they choose to become a client. Develop a portfolio to show your skills or accomplishments. Include your awards, work samples, reference letters, and even videos sharing your expertise.
Get people who’ve seen your work first-hand for a reference to include in your portfolio, on your website, or publicly on LinkedIn.
The Bottom Line
Influencer marketing is very powerful tool, which, if used properly, can dramatically enhance your content strategy and make some connections in the online business world. It could be equally useful in various stages of your strategy because it incorporates new exciting people and their creative potential, which could be appreciated by many people.
In most cases, influencer marketing begins to bring benefits rather quickly, so consider using it for your business as well. Use the steps described above as a guide for reaching the desired outcome and make sure you selected the right influencers for the purposes of your strategy.
