Do you know me, your customer? I am the person with the money. And the problems you might be able to solve? And the friends I could possibly refer to you? I could possibly be in the marketplace soon for your products or service? Where’s all the stuff about me?
The truth is most marketing is ego-driven and to your potential clients or customers its sounds like blah, blah, blah, blah. It sounds something like “We’re the best. We have great service. We’re dependable. We offer great value. Stop in for great selection, competitive prices, and the personal touch you’ve come to expect.”
That’s a whole lot of you, and not enough of me. Here’s the deal, good marketing is not about your business. It’s about how your business is different, valuable, and what it means to customers. Why should people do business with you?
Are you the expert in your field? If not, produce a strategic, laser-focused, action-taking, and effective marketing message that resonates with people who are looking for you.
As a result, you won’t have to work hard dealing with tire-kickers and people who are not fun to be around. In the end, people are not paying for your products or services they are paying for a transformation or a result to live a better.
