What does success mean to you? Does success equate to having a career? Freedom? Relationships? Business? Health? Wealth? And how does it feel to become successful?
Over 40 years of my life I’ve had the privilege to meet rich people with influence that change the world. I’ve discovered over the years most people have there own definition of success. In our society conventional wisdom tells us if you want to become successful all you have to do is attend college and get a good education. Success is something you attract by the person you become.
Going to college and getting an education is only the beginning of your journey to becoming successful. There is no one path towards success and you have to keep learning as long as you’re living. It took me years to arrive with this notion because of my upbringing. I was one of those people who believed if you got an education it would position you towards having a nice career. And you would get married riding off into the sunset and live happily EVER after.
Unfortunately, things didn’t happen in the way I envision. Following the “status quo” didn’t come close to succeeding in my case. So I decided to take a completely different approach to living my life on my own terms and rules.
From my experience, here’s three entirely NEW approaches you can apply to become successful at anything.
Find a Mentor. Find someone in the area of your interest that’s successful. Personally, I went out to find mentors who were 50 years of age or better. Make sure they can relate to some of your experiences and don’t live on theory. Some older people may have retired and not be active in your field of interest which is fine. Make sure it’s been less than five years since retirement. Stay away from experts such as college professors who talk a good game without EVER taking action. Nothing against college professors I believe they have a role in society, however its best to look for doers not talkers.
Trial and Error. You don’t have to get everything right, just get it going. If you are waiting for the perfect time having all the right information to get started it’s NEVER going to happen. You will never have all the answers and skills needed in the beginning to succeed. Experience is the best teacher and as humans we learn best by our actions.
You have to be consistent and always be building. There is no FREE lunch…you have to put in the time and effort. Be known as a problem solver and figure out how to increase your value in the marketplace. Attending conferences and taking classes is fine, however at some point you have to get into the game. Nothing is going to change in your life until you decide to do something different.
Travel. Traveling expands your mind and gives you a unique prospective on life. It also gets you out of your comfort zone into another environment. You will also have the opportunity to meet different people from around the world. A wise man once told me if you want to be successful learn from others who came before you. The experience is ALWAYS the best teacher and its how we REALLY learn as humans.
There you have it, three of the fastest ways humanly possible to become successful at anything. It’s taken me years to discover these three concepts in order to achieve my goals, dreams and aspirations. The good news is…you don’t have to take the hard route because I just revealed to you what it takes to become successful. I believe at this very moment this message can help MILLIONS of people to change lives. Feel free to share it with your friends and family.
